I just recently saw a neighbor splitting wood the old-fashioned way, with an axe. It truly looked like a back ache on its way. Of course in his case it wasn't for warmth but just to get rid of some unwanted trees in his backyard.Tami @ Lemon Tree Taleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06655631671353374029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4775144085133236065.post-54696340823405927792011-06-14T04:22:12.478-07:002011-06-14T04:22:12.478-07:00I image that it must have felt very satisfying to ...I image that it must have felt very satisfying to complete a big job like this...you two make a terrific team.Becky Shanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01511808184366441835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4775144085133236065.post-91668587996863351462011-06-13T11:26:50.047-07:002011-06-13T11:26:50.047-07:00I feel for you as I have that to look forward to t...I feel for you as I have that to look forward to this summer as we have downed trees too. That brings back memories of my dad dragging me and my sister up into the mountains, and he'd cut fallen wood with a chain saw, and we'd have to load the truck (without gloves). Then, of course, unload when we got home. I think we were seven or eight. I dearly hated weekends.Pretty Thingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00285473788765783338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4775144085133236065.post-91829760340310813332011-06-12T14:25:46.169-07:002011-06-12T14:25:46.169-07:00hmmm, sometimes I think fondly of a city apartment...hmmm, sometimes I think fondly of a city apartment/studio. But usually our menfolk are right to get us all involved in some exercise program. lol I guess it is all about balance and hard work and good art seem to fit together. I think they require us to give more than we think we can. It is a satidfying feeling when we surprise ourselves! happy weekend!ellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15188791638739872773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4775144085133236065.post-36669655586991077092011-06-12T08:17:46.600-07:002011-06-12T08:17:46.600-07:00Always sad to see a tree come down, isn't it? ...Always sad to see a tree come down, isn't it? We installed a special window in the basement near the wood stove that opens and is then suspended, and we pop the firewood through from the back of the truck. Saves carting it all through the house. Although I love the aroma and coziness of a wood stove, I find it creates so much dust! ( and I'm allergic to some of the wood, so that's not the best for me) Hope you're not too achy from splitting, loading and piling.Suztatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15703965965474209546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4775144085133236065.post-85327555904141625242011-06-12T06:05:09.394-07:002011-06-12T06:05:09.394-07:00Hi! I don't even like grilling...and several years back a bad neighbor reinforced my fears when he burned down our garage (full of antiques). I give you and Mr. C. much credit for doing all of that firewood work!
