Abundance of Pears...
Sometimes our friends move away and we don't see them as often as we once did. However this does not mean that we don't think of them often and miss them. So when her birthday was close by in August I got busy. She loves pears as the symbol of "abundance" and that is her guiding word...abundance. I have a lovely pear stamp and know how much she likes to send handwritten notes. My gift to her...
Golden parchment note cards hand stamped with golden pears. I also lined the envelopes with a lovely golden paper. Somehow abundance just required gold.
I also made the birthday card using my pear stamp. This time I hand colored it with my Inktense pencils that are water soluble. Not as much gold here. I used an ecru card and envelope. The envelope is lined with a delicious copper moire paper that is also on the card under the watercolor pear layer.
Here is the set of note cards wrapped with the gold paper and another stamped hand colored pear on the band that holds the cards and envelopes together. Her beautifully hand written thank you card tells me she received them and how much she likes them. Happy Birthday my friend.
Summer is rushing along. We are in the conclusion half of August. Our weather continues to be absolutely glorious. Not too hot in the days and cool in the evenings. We are having an issue of bad air quality due to a very large fire burning in the forest miles from us. The area is so remote and dry it is putting up more smoke than normal as it hasn't burned there in over 50 years. Thankfully no homes or businesses are affected.
Daily life is keeping me very busy. I am truly grateful for being able to have the time to just be and do...whatever is needed. Volunteer work...home life...Mr. C...gluing...glittering...sewing...errands...you know the program. You are smiling as you are very familiar with the routine of nothing normal aren't you? How can so many hours just slip by without really getting anything accomplished?!!
Sunny Summer Smiles...or...Winter Bliss...
May you truly enjoy what you are busy doing. Life is good. Thank you for your wonderful comments.
Hi Sherry, Beautiful gift for your friend. Love the pear with the different colors. I have water pencils but have never used them and do't even know how to.
ReplyDeleteOur weather is still sticky, muggy and raining again. We had a couple of dry days, but now we are back to wet weather.
I know what you mean about where the hours go. I wake up so early in the morning and by the time I blink twice it is night time. But I thank God daily for the time he gives us.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Ana
Your pear cards are more than wonderful! Gorgeous! (so, I'm not the only gal to immediately think of fruit as soon as I hear the word Abundance?!). Sherry, I am going to be a Grandma!!! My daughter learned the gender of this 4 1/2 month old baby-to-be today, and tomorrow will be announcing the news at a special Boy-Girl Party!!!! Woot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pear cards you created from your heart. Such a wonderful, personal and well thought out gift.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely gift for your friend! You are so thoughtful, Sherry, not to mention creative too. Lining the envelopes adds that special touch!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your good weather to the fullest! Hope the fires calm down so the air quality improves!
xoxo Jane

ReplyDeleteYou have made good use of a great stamp.
ReplyDeleteHI, SHERRY!!! Slowly getting back to the reading...missed a "few" of your posts, but I'm back now. The pear cards, for your friend, are RICH!!! Love the stamp and what you can do with it (the paper crafts are something I've never gotten into, but love - my friend here does beautiful work, too!)...and I just saw the ladybug post - SOOO cute! And any excuse for me to buy new colored pencils or crayons (and maybe a great coloring book), is a great day! Love to you - enjoy the cooler weather - we are getting it here in Vegas, too (OK, not so cool, but unseasonably NOT hot, so I will take that!) XOXO
ReplyDeleteI love your pear cards! What a beautiful design it is, and I am especially drawn to the coloured in version - so richly elegant.
ReplyDeleteStaying in touch takes effort, but is so worthwhile, and this is a beautiful way of accomplishing just that!
PS - glad to hear Mr. C is almost back to perfect health - yay!
WHat a beautiful and thoughtful gift for your friend. No wonder she loved the card and the notelets. Hugs Mrs a.

Oh wow Sherry, that is beautiful! I love how you painted those pears, leaving white spaces between the painted areas. Beautiful gift for your friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh dear, a fire close to where you live as well... I'm happy to hear that no homes or businesses where effected. Let's hope it stays that way.
Thank you dear for leaving so many sweet words on my blog :) Big hug to you! Wendy

Beautiful cards...love the pear, it reminds I too have a pear stamp I haven't used in quite sometime...very inspiring...thank you!! I agree, life does seem to go quickly, I have so many interests and things to do, but I figure if I get one thing done, it was more then when I started! Today I cooked up a big pot of tomatoes from our garden to freeze...makes me feel good just doing that....have a nice week!!

Your cards, and their variations, are so delightful! And being a good friend you know what pleases her.. what will make her smile all those many miles away. Yes, summer has flown by and I really feel like I didn't get to enjoy any of it. Moving and now taking care of fixing up the new little house has made me only aware of what needs to be done. Taking time to breathe is only a luxury at this moment. But I'm keeping my eye on the prize and know that in the future things will settle down.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I love the pear images.
ReplyDeleteYour pear cards are gorgeously done and what a terrific gift for your friend.
ReplyDeleteLove the coloring on the pear, gorgeous! You are so talented.
