Year End Shredding...
It was time to shred all those year end files and papers that have our personal information on them. Yes, we do have one of those "shredding machines" that do a really good job. In fact we have a very professional shredder that actually works quite well. However, Mr. C decided it was time to do it a much better way. This is how Real Men Shred Papers!
Messy is best for He-Man Shredders!
Pulp all drying out and ready to be put in the recycle bin. Several hours and many piles of papers later Mr. C had shred all the files and then some. He truly enjoyed this project. Who can argue with a man and his power tools?!! This was not my type of crafty project. All I could think of was all that wonderful pulp going into the recycle without making lovely artful paper with it. I used to make paper with Arnold Grummer's Papermill supplies and my kitchen blender...now dedicated to gardening. Those were my type of paper shredding projects. Have you ever made paper for art?
We are having a Noah's Ark rainstorm. The weather man predicted 5 inches for us in about 24 hours. I think we just might come close. When you hear of a "whiteout" in a snowstorm this is definitely a "greyout" in a rainstorm. At times it is raining so hard I cannot see anything but grey for all the rain...and we are not in the clouds! We are staying indoors dry and warm. Mr. C is not allowed outside because he is very sick with the Winter Crud. He finally went to the doctor yesterday and came home with most of the pharmacy. Lots of meds and potions to help him get well. The local hospital is calling this the 100 day cough. I am doing my very best to stay well. After all I have a busy February coming right around the corner as January winds to a close.
Lets share Happy Hearts and enjoy Valentine Creative Bliss...
I AM NOT GOING TO SHOW THIS POST TO MY HUSBAND! LoL. Although he already has one of those shredding tools...he mixes grout with it. I say if Man wants to do the chore, let him do it his way. Well done Mr. C.
ReplyDeleteI've never made my own paper and have never had the desire to either. Too much on my list to be making the paper. LoL
We are not getting any of that rain you are getting. You're hogging it all, Miss Createology!
Does Mr. C travel with his paper shredder?? (After he is over the winter crud, that is!!) I have boxes and boxes that he can go to town on!! They are taking up so much space and I need to take them somewhere but I just haven't and the pile continues to grow. Sigh. I hope you don't need Noah's Ark to weather the rain. That's quite a bit in 24 hours. We are supposed to hit the 60's tomorrow - unheard of in January!! Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

A Mermaid's Crafts
that is a great way to do it!!
ReplyDelete100 day cough, oh wow, that's bad,,
well I hope he gets better soon and I hope you don't have to sleep with life jackets on to stay afloat!! Thats a lot of rain,, wow, I know you needed rain after that drought but this is too much!!
My first thought was you would tell us about all the wonderful paper you made from Mr C's year end task!!! Hope he feels better and you don't catch "it"!
ReplyDeleteOh Sherry, you could have fun making recycled paper from all that pulp.I have only made paper once, but it was fascinating. You can put weeds, stalks...a whole lot of things into the pulp to make Art papers!Your hubby could make you a wire frame to sieve the pulp...lots of tutorials on the web!Oh how lovely is RAIN!!We have just had some lovely rain too after 5 or so dry months!!
ReplyDeleteI've never made paper but it is an intriguing process. Yup, boys and their toys. Gee, your water table is gonna be fine! :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA - I love this! Men! I hope he feels better soon, and is back at it with the power tools. Stay well, my friend!
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Mr C. I used to have a neighbour who made paper from elephant dung.
ReplyDeleteIt must be much quicker using this powerful machine rather than a shredder, personally \I tear mine and then put them in the compost bin I have along with veg peelings scraps of cotton fabric etc, it has been on the go for a few years and still no where full! Surprised you did not make some paper with it all. Do hope Mr C is feeling the benefit of all the medication and the cough has eased
ReplyDeleteLove Mr. C's shredder!!! Sherry you could have taken the shredded paper and made a paper mache creation with it, LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no - I'm so sorry Mr C has succumbed to the crud - it's a bad one that's going around, that's for sure. Make sure he eats copious amounts of probiotic yogurt (it helps renew the 'good' bacteria that gets killed off when taking antibiotics, plus it gives your immune system a boost. You should be eating it too, to help ward the disease off). Must say that's a rather inventive way to shred paper. My DH was into that chore yesterday too - but not quite so high tech!
ReplyDeleteMr.C looks like he is in his element. Sorry he is ill, that crud is everywhere. TYou take care and keep creating! Boy when we wish for rain I think we should put a limit on it, don't you?! We are soaking wet.
ReplyDeletethat shredding is indescribable. I certainly never even knew it COULD be done like that. Looks like FUN!! My husband came down with something last night. Sure hope it's not the 100 day variety!!

Hi Sherry, So sorry Mr. C is ill but may be on to the new way to shred papers. I'm still using a shredder but it takes so long to do.
ReplyDeleteMy son has pneumonia at the moment but doing better today. Get well wishes to Mr. C.
Have a great Sunday! xo
Poor Mr. C! I hope all that pharmacy meds helps him get well soon. Plus, I hope you don't get it! Interesting way to shred paper. I'm not going to show this to my hubby...it would be a worse mess than just shredding paper if he did this. LOL
ReplyDeleteNow that looks like a great idea. Yes I have made hand made paper from pulp. Hope
ReplyDeleteMr C is feeling better soon and that the rain lets up a bit
Hugs ynn
ha-ha! I've certainly never seen documents shredded like that before. I've not made paper before but a blog friend has and sent me some. And I remember my son's teacher in elementary school asked us to save our dryer lint so they could make paper from it. When it rains it pours! I drove through some gray outs last summer in Louisiana and Mississippi. Scary stuff! My college boy had a bout of bronchitis a while back and said he coughed for weeks and weeks. He finally got the diagnosis when he went to the clinic and got the proper medication. Hope Mr. C is on the mend. Happy February!
ReplyDeleteMr. C is so funny, but my husband would probably do the same. I just do't let him do anything that comes to important papers. He wants to throw them all out. LOL.
ReplyDeleteHope Mr. C listens and takes care of himself. Crafty hugs, Ana
