July Goal Met...
Every year I have the same challenge. To trim my Whooley Thyme at the pond where we have a flagstone patio for sitting and sipping. Every year I let my Whooley Thyme grow and then blossom and the bees and moths have a feast. By the time I need to trim I honestly cannot see the flagstones. I forgot to take a before photo of the solid Whooley Thyme covering the flagstones
I have discovered by trial and error that my orange handled Fiskar scissors work the very best for me. I wonder if anyone has ever made a small Dremel type edge trimmer? I honestly need to begin cutting and then find the edges of the flagstone. This takes me so many hours I have truly lost count.
When I began a few weeks ago, I made it my goal to complete this task by the end of July. Ahh...with only one more day to fine tune some more areas I have completed my overwhelming task!
My hands and knees get lots of wear and tear...along with my back.
This area is underneath our chairs. We used to have nice teak benches but they wore out in the many seasons and elements we have here. I opted to get some very inexpensive chairs that are lightweight and easy to move and wash off. They are surprisingly comfortable.
This is the completed area that is at the pond. I had a brief thought of letting the Whooley Thyme just go and cover everything but I just love this trim and neat look so I had to do my trimming.
This is my view when sitting in my chair. I love to sit here and reflect on life and whatever else pops into my head. I also love to turn on the water spray over the pond and watch the amazing Dragonfly parade. Red, Blue, Gold, and Black and Yellow striped versions appear from seemingly nowhere.
Sitting here in the evening with a glass of wine is the perfect way to unwind from the day. Our pond was built by Mr. C after he went to pond college and it is the most wonderful thing ever!!! Thank you sweet Mr. C for your amazing engineering and building skills.
On the home front we have now gotten help with our lawn and we are bringing it up to snuff for the overall Home and Property offering. An update for you my friends...No one, Nobody, Nada, Zero showings even after all our upgrades and new agent listing. I feel we are being punished for living here in small town USA where there is next to no economic viability. We need someone like us twenty years ago to bring their bank accounts and live the dream of Peace and Calm in Beauty of this Great Land.
It is so hard to believe July 2017 is coming to an end. I welcome August as it is my very most favorite month. Heat and all! We are in for at least another week of triple digit heat. Happy Birthday to my Wonderful Daughter who has grown into an Amazing Woman. I am truly Blessed.
Summer Sunshine Smiles and Creative Bliss to each and every one of you my friends...<3

I love wooley thyme! I had it in Washington when I lived there. We put so some in under a tree here, but it doesn't like the heat, but loved the rain in Washington. Hubby used to trim kawn edges with a hand sheep shears. Maybe you can try that on hour wooley thyme, sheep xhear on wooley thyne sounds like it was meant to be, lol! Still have the back and knees issue though. Maybe Trump can buy your place for a getaway place, lol!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so wonderfully relaxing! Except for all that trimming, oh my! But you obviously enjoy doing it, so there ya go. We all have our teadious something we enjoy. You know the old adage, stop expecting an offer and one will come. Best of luck to you.
ReplyDeleteGood work! It all looks peaceful and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI so hoped you would have found a buyer as your home and garden are so lovely. Hopefully the right person will turn up soon. Hard work around the pond but such a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, would love a pond in my garden
ReplyDeleteLot of work! Nice effect though. Gee, I hope you get someone to come and see the house after all your work.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a gorgeous sit spot! Now that nesting and blossom season is over, I have to resurrect mine. Actually, I think I'm going to have to relocate it. Patience, dear friend! I wonder how far your real estate agents reach is? Your house and property are beautiful, and just the right couple will come along!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe people aren't rushing to buy your beautiful home. That yard...wow! So peaceful and gorgeous. I'd have to let the thyme take over the stones as my knees would never be able to take it, but the look of it trimmed is amazing.
ReplyDeleteA wonderfully relaxing spot, Sherry. Pond college. My dearie is considering that for a small dugout! How disappointing that you have not had enquiries. But it only takes one! Blessings to you as you sit and sip and enjoy and anticipate!
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry, I can`t believe no one wants, to even see this beautiful place. It looks like a magic place you show us today, and there are not many like it , I`m sure . I go on hoping for you, that soon someone will love this home, as much as you did. Hugs, Dorthe
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely area to sit and relax! Best wishes to you and Mr. C. I hope your daughter had an amazing birthday.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but definitely a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteCrafty hugs, Ana
Such a beautiful spot, especially after your many hours of trimming! Hard to believe no one has snapped up your lovely home, but I'll keep thinking positive thoughts for the perfect buyer to come around soon.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I want to thank you for my special surprise that came yesterday!!! You are just too, too clever and creative! I would never have thought of altering a paper clip, but you have made it into something special and so beautiful. Thank you, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - my knees and back and sore in sympathy! There HAS to be a better way to tackle that job. I think you deserve a lot of hours spent sitting there watching the dragonflies play in the water spray - a reward for a job well done!
ReplyDeleteAn annual event indeed - it looks beautiful, but it is back-breaking work...I suppose knowing how wonderful everything will look when you're finished helps to keep you going, but still... Happy Job Done!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks beautiful and your flagstoned are now neat and trim. That is making good use of your scissors indeed. So sorry you have had no takers for your lovely property. Hope you find one soon. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, Love your amazing garden area to sit and enjoy the summer days. I know it's a lot of work to trim and I feel for you but the reward is great isn't it? I also have those chairs in my garden and yes, they are amazingly comfortable and easy to clean off. I just can't imagine no showings on your lovely home. I pray that changes for you soon. In the meantime, enjoy August to the fullest. It's my favorite summer month too even though I do see and feel some slight changes coming for fall. It's in the air even with our still hot temps. We are having some rare rainstorms now which is incredible for us in August. Glad you got some help for the grounds. I am sure it helps. Happy Birthday to your dear daughter. Have a creative week sweet friend. xo
