Thankfully yet sadly we have had no snow this winter. And even stranger we have had virtually no rain. So I realized with all this great weather I better prune my roses back before the snow comes and flattens them to the ground. Behold this is my reward! A beautiful Heritage rose that smells amazing. Thank you mother nature for this gorgeous flower I so admire and enjoy.
And here is my winter rose rendition made of delicious wools and lace. I used four wools all in grey tones including a plaid. The lace was added to soften and add feminity to this piece. One of my favorite vintage buttons for the center finishes it off perfectly. A pin back makes it easy to wear on a coat or blazer or tote bag.
This is how I presented it to my friend. She really liked it and had the perfect grey plaid jacket to adorn with this rose.
I continue to love making my gifts I give as it really keeps me in total thoughts of that special person I am creating something for.
As I post this I can hear my wool fabrics pieces calling me to create with them. I love the feel of wool and how easy it is to work with. It adds a wonderful richness to the finished piece.
Do you create with wool fabric? What do you like to make with it?
Blissful creating in this fresh new year 2012...

Another Generous Blogger Friend...
I have said that August is my birthday month. Well this must be proof. When I opened the brown shipping box Mr. C told me these are my gifts he got me. Hmmm...I don't think so!
I happened to know this box came from the uber generous Celestina Marie. Please visit her site http://larearose.blogspot.com/ if you aren't familiar with her blog or her beautiful designs.
Needless to say Mr. C was simply hoping I would give him credit as he is not good about celebrating birthdays or holidays. I am totally fine with this as he is very thoughtful and generous throughout the year when least expected.
As for the goodies inside this box! Look at the dreamy pink French inspired paper, the pink silk petals, the soft pink tulle ribbon and the details on the boxes. I was giddy like a little princess on her birthday getting ready to open these beautiful presents.
This feminine gorgeous bottle complete with pink glittered roses and stopper. Swoon...
This adorable little birdhouse ornament handpainted by Celestina Marie herself both back and front.
More swooning...
Now my photos are out of order however this was an unexpected item she included. A small very heavy handpainted paperweight book. The tole painted roses are exquisite.
And completely over the moon swooning on this piece. My very own pink with rhinestone bling Eiffel Tower. It is also a bank and I can put my money in it to take a trip to Paris...Do they make $1000 bills as this bank is tiny and I will need a lot of money? :o)
Oh dear...my photos are so out of order however I am very comfortable using blogger as my excuse since I am not familiar with the new version. I think I am lucky any of my photos actually got onto this post.
This is the trio of lovelies that Celestina Marie actually offered as a give to celebrate her 38th wedding anniversary. Go figure...our good fortune due to her good fortune. I am still convinced that bloggers are the truly most generous giving souls on this planet.
Thank you so very much Celestina Marie. I feel so fortunate to be able to share you as my blogger friend. When I went back to your profile and read your credentials I completely understand how you would be chosen to visit the White House and create ornaments for one of the annual Christmas trees. Your work is truly special and I am so proud to be the lucky recipient of your generosity.
I will be thanking you properly very soon my dear.
Happy weekend to all and may you enjoy this end of summer to its fullest...Labor Day is just ahead...

Thank you blogland...
This blue fabric sewn envelope is one of the items I made and gave to my Sister (Marie) yesterday. Notice how the button reflects the pattern in the fabric. It is the little details that I so enjoy about creating something. Blue is not only my favorite color but also Marie's favorite. I had included a pair of artisan made wire wrapped dragonfly earrings. I missed keeping a photo of them but they looked perfect on Marie.
Here is a pair of very plain pink feminine slippers that I embellished and gave to Marie for her birthday. I love how they turned out.
All in all the weather was perfect, the company was perfect and we had a wonderful and very relaxing day. The Fountains was bustling with people, the roses were blooming and very fragrant, all the flowers were happy and proudly showing their stuff, young entertainers were putting on little shows at the stage...ballerinas, glowing pumpkins, fairys wearing butterfly wings. I was in heaven with all the wonderment of a little girl enjoying every moment. Yes, I did think of Uncle Bud and smile thinking of how he owned a small train that gave rides to children of all ages just like the one at The Fountains. It was a glorious day.

Beautiful fabric roses...
I opened my mail yesterday and these beautiful fabric roses appeared. I had been notified that I won these "Dior" handmade beauties from Lilla in Hawaii. Well, you must go to her blog http://www.justlilla.blogspot.com and see for yourself. She even has a tutorial on there of how to make these roses. What a talented and very nice lady Lilla is. I have been following her blog for some time now and I am constantly inspired by her. Not only did I receive these three Dior roses Lilla also included one of her handmade tags. What a lot of work and very special indeed.
Thank you so very much Lilla. I will continue to be inspired by your talents and generous sharing of the wonderful things you make. I feel so fortunate.
Now be sure to go on over and check it out as you just might be inspired too.
As for my beautiful Dior roses from Lilla...hmmmmmmmmm. Maybe these soft feminine roses will work their way into a lovely bag I shall make. Or maybe an embellishment on a fancy top
or...we shall have to wait and see what results I am inspired to create.

Weekend work...
All in all I am thankful for the beautiful plants and surrounding beauty I get to enjoy each and everyday. With age and time we replant less and less since we are the groundskeepers and have plenty to take care of now.
I am looking into the bare rock wall at the top of the driveway to see if it has enough sun to plant some wonderful and happy sunflowers. Every year I just want sunflowers but so far have not found an area with enough sun. Hmmm...
I did have lots of daffodils this year and the deer do not eat them!!!
I have saved the pond to show and discuss in the future. It is my favorite item.
I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead and lots of creative time to enjoy your specialties.
