Winning and Receiving...

I received this package in my mail and was most anxious to open it. I had gotten an email from Amy of http://www.rubymoonart.blogspot.com that my name had been chosen to win her pendant giveaway. I was so pleased and surprised. I don't enter many giveaways as I really try to be very careful not to get greedy. :o)
As you can see Amy really put a lot of time and work into her lovely gift. The box is decorated with vintage wallpaper and text. She included a note of Congratulations!

This is my wonderful pendant that Amy made and so kindly offered. This is actually the back and I think we can all use some Dreaming. The soft pink is very dreamy.

For the front of the pendant the phrase "Believe in yourself". Now that is a wonderful reminder that I especially need.
Thank you so very much Amy. Your attention to detail and complete pendant and gift box are wonderful. I shall cherish this and always be reminded that we are each unique and creative.
Please check out Amy and her blog and etsy shop.

Chores today...

Ahhh do you remember these wonderful "days of the week" towels from days gone by? As I begin my day in earnest I find that I have some chores to do and I started thinking about these towels. This picture I took off the internet since I do not have any of these cherished old handwork pieces.
I think this photo shows Tuesday as baking day. With the heat as high as it is here I shall not be doing any baking. However I must go grocery shopping. I think fresh vegetables, fruits and salads sound yummy. Cold applesauce was on the menu last evening. The less cooking to do in this summer heat (which I truly love) the better. Maybe popcicles would be a cool treat.
Yesterday I couldn't keep enough iced tea made for us to drink. Maybe today some lemonade would be refreshing.
Gosh if I follow these towels for chore days I missed doing my laundry on Monday. Oh darn! I did think about doing it but decided I was not going to use the dryer as it just adds to the heat. Mr. C has the air conditioning on and set to 80 degrees so I didn't want to intefere with that. Besides laundry can always wait.
So inspite of what day is supposed to be which chore I am off to do some grocery shopping.
May you each enjoy your day doing something you really like to do.

Clara's Big Day Out...

Let me introduce you to Clara. She is a 1969 Rambler American and that is the last year built. Isn't she beautiful? Well to me she certainly is! Clara is a true survivor. You are viewing a complete original vehicle. She only now has almost 38,000 miles on her. We purchased her with only 27,000 original miles. Mr. C drives her all over the place. Yesterday Clara had her big day out as she took us to the National Rambler Meet in Sacramento, California.
We arrived early and Barcelona Rose is the first Rambler Clara met. 1965 Rambler 990 and her owner Tracey was very sweet and friendly (and young).

This is the row that Clara was part of as it was mostly Americans of similar vintage. Being in the shade was very nice as it was an extremely warm day.

Oh this row...the testerone row as it was full of fabulous Javelin and AMX Ramblers. Now these owners are serious car club show people. I also got the feeling that they are serious road racers too but shhh we won't tell that.

This is a very cute Nash that a young family owns and enjoys. That was an interesting part of Clara's big day out meeting the variety of people and cars that enjoy Ramblers.

And this has to be the cutest and nicest Metropolitan I have ever seen. It was flawless in every way.
Clara had a good day and enjoyed the meet. When we left Sacramento Clara took us to Costco for a few items I had to pick up. You know her trunk can hold a lot of volume so I bought some large boxed items I needed.
Then on our way home Clara stopped for us to enjoy a nice late lunch/early dinner at one of our favorite spots. We filled our tummies and then onward Clara delivered us home safe and sound. I must thank Mr. C for driving as Clara can be a handful with no power steering, no power brakes and "three on the tree" with no syncro gears first or reverse. I forgot to remember I wanted an automatic when I was searching for a Rambler. However I wouldn't trade Clara as she is the most reliable and wonderful and affordable car we own.
Thank you Clara and what a fun day we had.
Happy traveling...

Staying Productive...

I am feeling quite productive as I am busy making these earrings for my shop. I promised myself for the year 2010 that I will focus and work on my creative skills.
This pair is lovely green glass millefiore heart shaped beads with Swarovski crystals dangling from sterling silver French ear wires. The nature of these glass beads are each unique and therefore the slightly different flower colors on each heart.
A deep saphire blue color using the Italian millefiore glass heart beads. Too bad the photo doesn't really show the beautiful colors as true blue.

Another pair of glass lampwork heart beads in an aqua blue color. A tag I made for easy display of the earrings.
I feel so happy to be making some jewelry for my Adorn Me! design line. These earrings are sweet and simple.
How quickly this year is rushing along and I am amazed that June is almost over. With all the day to day activities and how busy our long summer days are for outdoor enjoying with the longer sunshine it does feel so good to spend some time in the studio and work towards my personal goals.
Doesn't it just feel so good to be in your creative space using your hands and the tools of your craft to make something unique and beautiful and special?

Do You Love Beads???

I have truly never seen such a generous offer from a bead person. Usually we cannot bear to part with any of our beads or stash.
I am more than willing to share if I win and that is why I am blogging about this here and now.
Good luck to everyone.

Fabric Envelopes...

Here are some fabric envelopes I have been sewing. I began making these as birthday gifts which contained one of my handmade bracelets or pair of earrings. Then I thought how fun it would be to make these and list them since not everyone sews.
This soft feminine cinnamon colored one has tan felt lining so it will not scratch anything you might put inside.
This dusty blue one is my favorite since I am partial to blues. This one is slightly larger than the cinnamon one pictured above. It has white felt lining and is very soft. You might even put a special piece of lingerie in this envelope. Wouldn't this be a great unique gift for a wedding shower? No two alike with a gift like this.

This mauve and beige envelope is very muted and soft. The felt lining is a very pale pink. Wouldn't it be super fun to store love letters in these?
For more information such as dimensions and photos of inside please refer to my etsy shop located here http://createology.etsy.com
What would you use a fabric envelope for?
Thank you for visiting and I really enjoy all of your comments and critiques.

Being creative...

Here is a very simple bracelet I made using glass beads I bought in Rome. The colors are black and azure blue. Very soft muted colors and they really shine in the glass beads. This feels super comfortable around my wrist as I try it on for sizing.
I love the magnetic clasp as it makes for extremely easy fastening and unfastening without help from another source or person. "I can do it myself" comes to mind.
Having a lovely Saturday with perfect weather even though it is slightly breezy, however, that keeps the temperatures down to pleasant.
I spent most of the morning outside pulling weeds and doing detail clean up in one small area of our yard. I seem to be doing days of this same routine. I must admit it feels so good to see it when it is done. If only it would last.
After a shower and fresh clothes it was into my studio to focus and create. That is how I came to make this lovely bracelet. I also finished some other items that I shall post another day.
Enjoy your day and this weekend as some of you observe Father's Day.
How do you like to celebrate Father's Day?
Since my father, my father-in-law, my uncle and virtually everyone is gone I like to honor my husband and make certain he knows how much I truly appreciate him.

Happy Creating...

Happy creating is my signature line however I let too many things each day get in the way of doing just that. So here is a choker I made before my Southern venture I have just returned from.
This choker is completely stitched by hand (the red tie ribbon is pre-stitched) and made with the finest materials. I pay careful attention to detail and quality which should make this something that will last for a really long time.
I am very pleased with the final look of this unique Roses on Red choker.
I have promised myself to get back to my focus and therefore have listed this in my etsy shop.
There are so few hours in each day and I intend to utilize them being creative and feeling the joy that comes from making beautiful things with my hands.
Did you notice the tiny "dew drop" Swarovski clear crystal on each rose? It is in the details. :o)

Southern Food...

When you are traveling and you get multiple recommendations from numerous people along your path to eat at a specific restaurant you tend to want to experience it just to find out if it is as promised.
Savannah Georgia in the historic district is Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House on Jones Street. We waited in line for 2 1/2 hours not knowing what we would be eating. Fortunately for me I am never bored as I love to watch people and I will talk to anybody anyplace. Mr. C was okay because he loves food and his knee couldn't walk so sitting on a bench worked well for him in this case.
Lucky for us the food was good and the company interesting. As you can see you sit family style with strangers and you pass the various plates and bowls of food. The food was more than plentiful and so much waste was really bothering us so Mr. C asked the kitchen and they give all the excess food to the shelters who feed the needy.
Unfortunately for me Mrs. Wilkes is so popular that they rush you in and out in order to accomodate the horrendous long lines of people. They only serve from 11 to 2 each week day with no service on the weekends. Our 2 1/2 hour wait was for 35 minutes of eating time. WHEW! I cannot eat that fast and definitely cannot enjoy my food experience that fast.
Well, at least we experienced Mrs. Wilkes and we found out that people from all over the South were correct that we had to eat here at least once.
SOUTHERN FOOD

Peaceful Journey...

I do not know whose picture this is however it brings me comfort at this time of sorrow.
My dear sweet cousin who has been a sister to me for so many years has passed on.
We are the same age and our children played together when they were little.
She was the most giving and nurturing person to everyone she knew.
Her time has been short and now she is being taken care of by angels.
Rest in peace my dear sweet cousin and special sister.

I do not post this for sadness to anyone, merely for my own closure and processing.
I know that my blogland friends are extremely kind and I thank you for understanding my need to share this with you.

Vacation 2010...

Anticipation, excitement, explore...
Plan, prepare, pack...
Travel, experience, eat...
Exhaustion, overload, frustration...
Visiting, relaxing, enjoying...

Mr. Createology's sister on her lakefront property living the dream.
We had a wonderful time with Sisty and Tom and we enjoyed our visit.
However...
It is so good to be home, safe and in our own bed.
