Grateful Prayers & Recovering...
Thank you each and every one of you for your prayers, concern and comforting comments. Mr. C did not allow any photos until these two after 4 days. This left arm and his left ankle were crushed by the quad yet did not get broken. Severely swollen and bruised and multiple abrasions yet nothing broken. A miracle. The doctors all said it is fortunate that he is so strong and tough.
This photo does not do justice to the actual Technicolors of these bruises. Each day I find more as I see more of his entire body. Literally from the neck to the toes he is covered with cuts, scrapes, bruises and soreness. Amazingly he is doing much better than expected. His broken ribs are excruciatingly painful and he has a little pillow "buddy" that he keeps close to his side. His lung is better and he is able to carry on a conversation for a couple of minutes before running out of breath and being exhausted.
Today is just one week since the accident. I am baffled at how time has flown by when each minute, hour and day was extremely long not knowing how he would fare. How can time stand still yet race so quickly? We both very much appreciate all of your well wishes. Our friends have all been very supportive. I will say that his really good close friends who know him so well don't spare him any slack when it comes to the words quad and vacation one week apart. This weekend will be really rough for him as we would have been on that big jet plane heading to adventure which is what this man lives for.
I have not been creative as my "nursing" style is more like my mothering style. Yes, I am the type of mother/wife who puts the mirror to your face if I can't see or hear you breathing. I have always been an extreme worry-wart and that is what I do best...worry. I suppose I would be labeled a "helicopter" care-giver now days. "One who hovers too much." I could take offense however I believe I am merely being a good conscious care-taker. Ready to serve and tend to every need. I am so very grateful and thankful and pleased that he is doing so well. We still have a long journey but nothing like it could have been. When the doctors told us that many many times when it is a quad rollover accident there is paralyzation involved. Thank you God and Angels for watching over my husband. I do believe in miracles!
We are in for triple digit heat spell days for the next week. Perfect for July 4th FIREworks. Yes, I can be sarcastic and I usually try not to be however why do they sell fireworks to people who carelessly set them off. Now I will get off my soapbox and pray for no fires this coming holiday.
My Heart is Happy and my Creativity will return. Thank you once again each and every one of you. I really appreciate how wonderful my blog friends are. Blessings...

I laughed out loud when you mentioned the mirror test! lol! I think many of us mother's out here are similar but may not want to admit it! lol!
I am keeping you both in healing thoughts and prayers.

Terri
Sending hugs and prayers! I cannot even imagine the pain he has been in. So sorry this has happened - but glad he is ok! Healing thoughts your way...
ReplyDeleteLooking at the technicolor bruises makes it even more scary after the fact. My husband cracked his ribs a few years ago after tripping over the puppy while on a walk. His doctors gave him one of those breathing devices to practice deep breathing while healing. Apparently there's a big risk of getting pneumonia because no one wants to breathe deeply due to the pain. Poor Mr. C ... sounds like you're doing a good job of nursing him back to health. :-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been on the blog reader for several days...so glad to hear Mr. C. is progressing...I too am a 'helicopter'!!! Thank goodness for us...I know they would do the same. Take care my blog friend...you need to take care of yourself as well.
ReplyDeleteMy dear, my darling blog friend, I am shocked and so sorry to have read what had happened, and that I did not come to support you before hand.
ReplyDeleteNo wife ever wants to hear this kind of news, no mother wants to learn that her child has been injured, or worse. Your husband is extremely blessed to have been given his life and with YOU by his side. Oh dear, this is eye-opening.....peace and healing to BOTH OF YOU and thank you so much for coming by to visit. I bet those little turquoise flats would look sensational on you!
Much love, Anita
What wonderful news that your dearest husband is making a recovery. It sounds like a slow progress to full health - but God is good and he knows that's what is needed. I am sure that your 'big' trip when you have it will be all the sweeter and precious for the delay.
ReplyDeleteBless you both xxx
Sorry I haven't been on here a while - my husband has been and is very poorly so I haven't been able to concentrate on anything other than being here for him.
Thank you for your very kind and supportive email - it's the BIG DAY on Monday so hoping the major surgery saves his life and gives him back his energy and 'freedom' to get back to full health - which I am sure that it will.
What an ordeal for you both! I can't imagine your trip out to find him, then the hospital waiting. Thank you God, for answering prayers. Bless you both, Chris
ReplyDeleteEvery new day is part of the healing process. So glad to hear that hubby is recovering bit by bit. Will keep you both in my thoughts. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I'm just reading this. Sorry, I wasn't by sooner. Still, I'm glad you had some prayer warriors on this. Good to hear he's doing better. Those are some nasty bruises.
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry, I'm so sorry to read about this terrible accident. Due to vacation I didn't follow any blogs, so I had no idea. I do hope Mr C will recover soon. My thoughts are with you both.
