Ruffles Potato Chips???
Here is something I bought several years ago to support a fellow craftsperson. I thought I would make some for gifts. However I was never inspired by this one and the workmanship was not great. So it sat in the abyss of stuff.
Then I was shopping one day and found the pattern. Little Wallet by Valori Wells Designs. Of course I bought the pattern. I was still intrigued with these for gift giving. And then they both sat waiting for my inspiration to get in gear.
My blog friend Annie of freezeframe posted some on her blog. You really do want to click on her link and see what she created. This was my green light to get inspired. On top of her post she surprised me with this beautiful Little Wallet. Annie's workmanship was perfect and I was smitten.
I was entranced with her selection of coordinating fabrics. After thanking Annie for her generous gift and her inspiration I got my pattern and began.
These are like Ruffles Potato Chips for me...I can't eat just one and I can't make just one Little Wallet. Here are the first ones I have made. My gift list just got sew much easier. And bonus...they are easy to mail. How fun it will be to include those ever popular gift cards for each recipient.
I have sew much fun selecting fabrics from my stash. These are easily made from scraps. I wonder how many I will make before I retire this pattern? Thank you sew very much Annie for sparking my inspiration and gifting me with my beautiful Little Wallet. Thankfully there are no calories or fat in these like my beloved chips. Gift List Bliss right here...
We are awaiting a tiny bit of rain during tonight. It has been cold and very dry here. I am praying for all of you to stay safe and warm if you are in the frigid cold Winter weather.
On a personal note my words of wisdom last week were easy to type, however then life throws that unexpected glitch. I did some extra household chores and didn't take very good care of my back and sciatic issues. By Friday afternoon I was flat down and stayed that way for four days. Now I am slowly and carefully trying to function. So to remind myself...some things will get done and some things will be put aside for another time. Breathe! I am truly grateful. This too shall pass...
I am so happy to be reading all of your wonderful blogs with lots of decor and gift ideas. Thank you for sharing your Creative Joy and Bliss...

Oops, sorry to hear about your back but glad to hear you are feeling better. Those little wallets are really very cute and will make wonderful gifts. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteHope your back is getting better. I have been a been fan of these wonderful little wallets. I think I have made over 100 by now (my daughter sold many at a craft fair) and I never get tired of making them. It is so fun to pick fabrics, they are easy to sew and everyone loves them. Your color choices are super happy!
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself sweet lady. The wallets are darling, such a fun assortment of fabrics.
ReplyDeletehugs and JOY,
Kimberly
Yes those little wallets are like potato chips (or chocolate!) because you have to make several and combine great fabrics. I saw Annie's when she made them. How sweet she mailed one off to you. A friend of mine gave me the pattern and a wallet for my birthday a few years ago. They make great gifts and are a great scrap buster too. SO glad you had fun making these.
ReplyDeleteflat on your back does not sound good as you could not even do any stitching The little wallets are not only pretty but practical as well.
ReplyDeleteOh Sherry, we girls do this to ourselves don't we! I'm so very sorry you have a bad back. My issues come from sitting too long.

ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, Hope you are feeling better now. I too suffer from the sciatic pain, but thankfully has never left me in bed for a day. I know the chair in my craft room does not help, so I will be looking into a new one that is comfy.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on the little wallets. Keep on creating.

I LOVE YOUR TITLE!!!!!!! That is how I feel about certain items myself, and these little pockets are so useful and can be created in various ways from shabby chic to simple to outrageously different colors! Love the idea...oh if I had more time, I'd be creating everything from poetry to movies, from sewing items to who knows what!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit to my post. Enjoy the gift of imagination then making all your dreams come true!
Dear Sherry,
ReplyDeleteHopefully your back is now better, - anyway I wish that for you.
The sweet wallets are wonderful, and so fit for many small greetings, to your friends.
I wish you a lovely evening, and send you hugs.

I really must find this pattern! I not only want one for myself but I want to make them for gifts. I have had sciatic issues since the first week of January - I know, a long time! But it was the worst pain I've ever had. I was in the bed for three weeks and then in the recliner for three more. It doesn't seem to ever get completely well - so be very careful and don't overdo! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, your little wallets are incredibly adorable. You took the pattern and made the project your own.
ReplyDeleteI love it and the many wonderful fabrics you used to create these. I can see how it would be hard to make just one!!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Blessings and Happy Creating!

These are wonderful Sherry - and so much better for you than Ruffled Potato Chips. {I myself am a potato chip girl so I totally get it!}.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric selections too - they all look so pretty, laid out for us to see.
I do hope you are on the mend and that you have no more issues with your sciatica - it's such a nasty, nasty thing. Stay well, Sherry.
Hugs,
jillayne
Oh Dear Sherry I'm so sorry that you hurt your back! We never quite get it that our minds are still 20 but our bodies are not!
ReplyDeleteThose wallets are so sweet.
I can just imagine how they would look like with a shabby lacey look - hummm I like that idea!!!
Take special care and don't over do it because then you can enjoy the real things that matter like sewing and creating!
Hugs,
Suzy
Having a bad back is NO FUN so I feel sad for you! Staring at the ceiling and wishing you were doing something else is just yucky...glad you're feeling a little better. As for those cute purses, I've seen Annie's and she is the queen of making them, but it looks like you are fast on the way to catching up. I really need to get that pattern!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful and I can see why they're so addicting. Love your choices of pretty colors and patterns. Please take care of your back, and I do hope you're feeling better real soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute little bags, Sherry! Looks like fun sorting through the stash to gather fabrics together. Happy creating!
ReplyDeleteHoping your back is much better and that Mr. C is feeling better. I just finished up the flu and a nasty cold. So glad that's over. Our weather is freezing cold but sunny and no snow yet.I must find that pattern. I just love your creations. So cheery and bright.
ReplyDeleteWell where in the heck have I been?!!! This post must have been during the horrid week plus of extremely limited internet access. Only for a couple of hours early in the mornings. And I was sleeping through most of that. It was very frustrating indeed. Look at these great wallets you've made! And yes, they packet on way fewer calories than the delish chips. LoL. I love your wallets. Take care with your poor back. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing better. Sending you a big, but gentle hug. :)
