Roses & Dress A Girl...

We are having Summer here and the temperatures are very hot.  Mr. C's Roses are blooming nicely.  With all this heat I need to clip them early in the morning so they don't wilt by evening.  The colors and blossoms are so beautiful.

These light colored roses are the most fragrant and have the true old-world smell of roses as we knew growing up.  Mr. C is truly enjoying his beauties this year.

I am not doing well with keeping up daily.  The time is passing so quickly that I am way too behind.  I haven't sewn enough Dresses for Girls Around the World.  So far I only have four completed and two more in the works.  Our self-imposed deadline is coming quickly for this batch.
This past weekend Mr. C and I enjoyed some local activities.  We attended our local airport's open house including our Cal Fire Attack Base planes and pilots/crews.  It is always so interesting to learn how they take such good care of us when fires are raging.  I am thankful to pay our double fire assessments that we have each year.  On Sunday we attended our local Soapbox Derby that happens at our local park.  The road is closed and the derby "cars" have gravity drags.  We have everything from Mr. Potato Head to Stanford built racers.  Here is a link to see images of entrants.  It was fun to see and cheer them on.  Oh but the heat just about did me in.  This is the first time Mr. C and I have been able to attend.
I hope you are enjoying your Summer/Winter and doing all that you love.  Embracing Creative Bliss...

  5. It was warm here yesterday, but not nearly as hot as your temperatures. Today it's supposed to be cool with a high of 70, perfect for me! The roses are beautiful!

  6. You've been so busy but you're still getting some dresses made! They look beautiful, as do Mr. C's gorgeous roses. We just had our first of the season tropical storm (Colin) pass through so lots of rain the last couple of days. Cooler temps - yay!!!

  7. What a riot!! Those tricked out racers are too cool. I have a lot of friends that are posting about the heat they are experiencing. We have had very little rain and a cool front is moving in. Our weatherman said when it passes we will hit the 90s. He said that if the ground is dry it causes the temperatures to stay high because dry ground draws the heat. Looks like we are in for it. It's only the beginning of June and lots of lawns are already brown from lack of water. You can see the dust in the air.

    Beautiful roses. Stay cool.
    xx, Carol

  8. The roses are so beautiful and your dresses are just darling. I know so well how you feel (about keeping up) and I am trying as of late to post something somewhere each day, this has helped me focus a bit more. Not sure if it will help you - but maybe just one thing a day accomplished will make you feel like you are keeping up!

  9. Those are gorgeous roses! Sweet dresses and you know every one matters, so if you didn't make as many, the ones you did make will be so appreciated! You can just do what you can.

  10. The roses are beautiful. They take so much care. Hip hip hooray to Mr. C for putting in the required time to raise them lovingly. The dresses are adorable. You can only do what you can do and I'm sure the dresses are greatly appreciated. What a fun time the soap box derby must have been. How fun to watch the giant adults fold themselves into the little cars. LoL. I love the pic of Mr. Potatoe Head having been pulled over by the cops! Too funny!

  11. Lovely roses, and the dresses are the cutest things. Got a kick out of the derby photos- and the rules state no more than a $500 budget for building the racers. Such prep goes into this.

  12. I can almost smell those roses! Beautiful! Both dresses are cute, but I am especially drawn to the green and yellow one.

  13. mmmm - I love the roses that actually have a scent, because so many of them now are grown for 'show' and the scent is practically non-existent. I guess that's why I love the old-fashioned single roses so much. Mr C deserves a pat on the back for his growing prowess!

  20. Oh I can smell those gorgeous roses all the way up here. We had a graduation party to attend and it was 96 degrees in the shade. So the little rain we got today was welcome.

  22. Hi Sherry, wow your roses are gorgeous. Mr. C sure has a green thumb to grow such beauties. I know the scent is heavenly. Your dresses are so sweet. I know you will complete what you need to share and what a blessing it will be for those recipients.
Sounds like you had some fun along the way too even in the heat!! Stay cool and have a wonderful rest of the weekend and creative week ahead. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings xo

  24. The creativity of the earth, doesn't it just knock you over in total bliss? I have been lovin' so much on the peonies that the roses have been neglected! We are having the best blooms in town of the William Baffin climber variety. I must go out and take photos!

Thank you so much for your visit! HUGS!

Your little girls dresses are adorable, how very kind and generous of you to make these for girls around the world. Wishing you more time to do all you want to do,

  26. Oh my goodness- your roses are beautiful. That's one thing we just don't do well here at our house- tea roses. We gave that up several years ago- we have no tea rose talents!! Our climbers and knock out roses do well-- but it takes a special talent to raise beautiful roses like yours...

Those little dresses are precious. That's a wonderful charitable gift...

It's been hot here too- we are out in the early mornings to do our garden duties!!
    Love
    Vicki
