As November Ends...
Last week is now a blur as November comes quickly to a close. On Tuesday we had an inch of rain. On Wednesday we got an inch of snow. With the four year drastic drought we have been having here in California this was a huge blessing just in time for Thanksgiving. We are predicted to have the most measurable El Nino in history this coming year. I have now lived here in Northern California for 18 years after living my entire life before that in Southern California. I never have embraced "Seasons" or Winter and especially snow...until now. Experiencing living semi rural and on our own well has taught me a lot about the need for snowpack and water table levels. I shall be much more tolerant than in past years. It is also a lot less scary to experience ice and snow now that I am not working and having to drive in it. So...Mother Nature I am embracing Winter this year!
Here is an adorable snowman that I embroidered. It is part of my Jenny of elefantz stitchery club. I don't always stitch each pattern each month but I definitely save them for times when needle and thread call to me. Thank you Jenny for your inspiration.
This year I am going to also embrace "Christmas Calm"! This will be quite the challenge for me as I am a champion worrier and stressor. After all the sleep I have lost and knowing I cannot change a thing by worrying or stressing this will be my gift to myself...and Mr. C this December. My lists are made and I know I can adapt or change them as needed. Not everything for everyone must be done. My health and sanity are far more important...at least to me and my family. May you also find your "Christmas Calm" in this hectic time of year. With Continued Creative Bliss...

How lovely to see a bit of snow. I definitely would much rather visit than live in it. Your embroidered snowman is very cute. I don't get caught up in the holiday rush like I used to. i don't feel the need to do everything for everybody. This year is definitely going to be a handmade, simple holiday affair. Blessings to you, Tammy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow! Enjoy it while you have it. I enjoy those sweet embroidery designs too.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine life without seasons. Winter is definitely the calm time. Blessings to you and Mr. C, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to TAKE CARE of yourself, first and foremost! Our snow disappeared with two days of rain! Its dry now and was 18 this a.m. @ 7:15...guess winter is here, right! Although, it's been sunny almost every day, which is unusual for Michigan!
ReplyDeleteSWEET design!
ReplyDeleteYour embroidered snowman is so adorable!! I love the little tree!! And the snow!! I'm glad you got the needed moisture!! I'm not a fan of the white stuff...too many years living in the Adirondacks where it snowed like 10 months a year ;) Enjoy your Christmas Calm and have a great evening :)

ReplyDeleteThose of us who have seasons are lucky. So glad to hear about the rain and snow.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty embroidery! Love that snowman!
loving your snowman, wonder if you will have enough snow this year to build your own. Good to know that the well will be filling up after the shortage this summer
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry. You are so lucky to experience some snow. I so wish here in Miami, Florida we could atlas have one day even 2 of snow. But I doubt that would ever happen, so for now I will have to continue traveling to the snowy states.
ReplyDeleteLove your embroidered snow man. very cute.
Have fun creating and stay warm. Hope you are feeling better from the meds that gave you bad side affects.
Happy crafting. Ana
gosh I'm glad you got some precipitation!! Personally, I hate snow and am grateful to have retired so that I can watch from inside. We have been blessed with above average temps and a bit of rain, but snow is in our forecast for Wednesday. Love your snowman stitching. Puts you in the Christmas mood, doesn't it!!

Sounds like a good thing to aim for, keeping calm and accepting Winter as it comes!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry!
ReplyDeleteACK! I'm the Nervous Nellie, worry wart type too. It seems to me there are two kinds of people in the world, the worriers and the non-worriers. We husband doesn't worry about a thing and I worry about everything --- probably enough for a family of five LOL.
Your embroidery is so darling! What will it become?
Yay, rain and snow! We've had cold for us --- which I'm loving the cold mornings after what felt like a year long of heat and more heat.
Wishing you much joy and calm this holiday season dear Sherry!
Sally xo
Dear Sherry , I love your lovely embroidered snowman how sweet he is , and looks so beautiful witth the snow, but like you, I am not a fan of many days or weeks with snowfilled streets, and don`t like driving in winter. But for you snow is water and water is filled wells :-) Blessings, Dorthe
ReplyDeleteI never ever thought I'd be happy to see snow, but I am definitely happy to see yours. Mind you, I'd be quite happy if you kept it!! I know what you mean about trying to make the Christmas season less stressful. I've learned that it's best (at least for me anyway) to have all my gifts made before Dec. 1st so that I am free to do 'social things' without having to rush home to be creative. Must less stress that way!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, your snowfall looks beautiful and I can imagine how welcome it is. We had 10 inches of rain since Thanksgiving and I wish I could send it your way. If our rain was snow, we'd be buried.
ReplyDeleteYour snowman is incredible. Love it and I too enjoy to do stitch work but have simply had no time lately. You have inspired me to fit it in somehow!!
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the first week of December. xo
Oh I am so with you on Christmas Calm. So glad to see you are getting some well needed moisture. We have had rain and cold but no snow yet.
ReplyDeletethis is snow in your area...how beautiful and surprising..we have had temps in the 50's and for us that is very unusual for dec...wowwwwwww !
ReplyDeleteLove the snowman! Embroidering is one of my favorite hobbies.
ReplyDeleteHello Sherry, that is one sweet snowman! I have not embroidered much for years and I would love to get back into it. Do you find it calming?
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the benefits of not worrying.
Sending you a warm hug,
Terri
