Birds and Butterflies...

Oh My! I do not know what has happened to my scanner but the colors are all wrong on this butterfly card. However, I am showing you a technique that saved my card project.
I had purchased a new Martha Stewart punch with all these wonderful butterflies. I also purchased some premade butterfly cards with envelopes. The stamped butterfly is really gold and embossed on an ecru cardstock. So I took my card and punched the butterflies. Oops...what I didn't realize is that the punch cuts the butterflies completely off of the card. Well that was not attractive. My card front was now very short and my butterfly edge was laying on the table by itself! So I got out the decorative papers and cut a piece to fit the entire front of the card. Then glued on the butterfly border. I also lined the envelope with the same deco paper. Card saved and now usable. I actually like it so well I shall make more like this one using other fun colors.

This is another paper, fabric and lace bird I sewed and embellished. Spring really never came to our neck of the woods. Today it is very cold and rainy again. Winter has truly lasted seven (7) months. Maybe this is why I am enjoying making these fun "Spring" birds.

My prayers and heart go out to all those affected by the horrible tornadoes and extreme weather across the middle section of our great United States.

  2. What a great idea to 'save' your card! And I love your birdy. Still waiting for warm and sunny spring days here, too.
Many thoughts and prayers have been sent out to those affected by the recent tornadoes. It seems the world is moving from one disaster to the next.

  13. I didn't know that those pretty Martha Stewart punches cut all of the butterflies off, either! I do love your card! Pretty bird! (Spring drops in here for a few hours every now & then, but it has rained almost every day for three months, too. My yard seems hopelessly flooded...and I now have a "pond" with two mallard ducks! Really.

  15. Love your card and your sweet bird. It is hailing outside and the sun is shining. I give up on this weather. Thanks for your comments on my sketches for May. I had a Dr. visit yesterday and have been a little achy ever since. Had to have 5 biopsies for skin cancer. Lucky I noticed one little spot and decided to have them take a look. They found 4 more questionable spots. So now I wait for results...They say 2 weeks. Oh well, so I am playing catch up with my sketches. I guess all those sun filled days at the beach when I was a teen are getting even now. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and I hope you are having good weather!!!

  17. What delights! Very pretty!

I have been frustrated with my scanner which is now not 'being recognized" by my computer or software. (even though they've had a close reltionship for years!)

    Have a creative weekend!

  19. Your card is lovely and I just adore your birdie!!!! Yes; the weather has been awful all over the country and my heart and prayers go out to those effected by the horrible, nightmarish tornadoes. We are now in the heavy humidity with storm threats each day. We lost Spring somewhere. Thoughts of you....Marilyn xxoo
