Gathering And Wrapping...

December days are waning and I am not stressing...well not too much.  I am gathering gifts and getting them organized by groups or persons.  My lists are getting checked off however I always seem to add more to them each time I complete something.  Another person to add to the list...another gift to prepare and so it goes.  How is your gifting coming along?  Are you minimizing this year?  I am...or at least that is what I am trying to do.  Each year I hope to cut back yet it never seems to happen.

I am still wrapping.  Now it is down to the odd shapes and more difficult items.  Mr. C and I went down the hill and did some shopping.  We visited the largest mall known as the Galleria.  We were both very disappointed in the Christmas decorations.  It was mostly plastic and sparse and less than magical.  Even Santa's area was sad from what we were used to.  It was no Miracle on 34th Street.  The entire mall was just over-crowded merchandise mania.  We managed to boost their local economy and get some more things for me to wrap.
It was nice to get away from the snow and ice for the day.  Mr. C had taken a bad fall on the ice a couple of days ago.  He hurt his left arm and elbow.  Bless this man as he never complains and just keeps going.  Then I fell hard on the ice and I am trying not to complain but it hurts like heck!  There I was standing upright one minute and the very next thing I know I am bouncing on the ice like a heavy bowling ball bouncing on a dead lane.  We are hoping for warmer temps soon so the ice will melt and be gone.  I made the mistake of putting down kitty litter.  Mr. C has now told me my error.  I used the expensive "clumping" kind that turns to cement consistency.  What a major mess it made!  And it never melted the snow.  I was really sad to find out I fell in the mess and got it on my good black shoes and slacks!  My priorities might be out of order here. Cherry not Dreary...I am remembering my mantra.  Come on Summer...Please.
How are you doing with your holiday preparations?  I am enjoying your blogs with so many wonderful ideas and creative gifts and lovely decorations.  Thank you very much for sharing Christmas Bliss.
Happy Creative Hearts to all and to all a good night...

  1. take care on that ice and wrap up warm. You ask about what we are doing here well my Christmas list could not be shorter just 2 daughters and one granddaughter, usually they want money but this year Helen has a handbag to add to the 30+ she already has! Catherine wanted paper craft bits and Sal my granddaughter has yet to decide.Being one of 5 with 10 of the next generation and 10 of the next we just buy for our own children otherwise it would be way beyond my pocket

  2. Hi Sherry, I have not done any shopping for our kids this year. We will be giving them money and they can buy what they want. The malls here are super duper full, but I don't see much shopping being done. One of our malls does have a beautiful display where Santa is at. We took pictures at another Mall with Santa and the display was also nicely decorated.
I read your last post and was kind of jealous that you all had snow and cold weather and we have high 80 degrees. We are having a cold front, but that means in the 70's. Not a cold front at all.
Stay safe and off the ice and stay warm.

  5. I almost hate to say that I had all of mine prepared before we headed to Connecticut early last month... I did the "Twelve Days of Christmas" for our marrieds. It was a lot of fun. I'll start seeing the daily pics on Saturday (Sunday my time).

And that's awful about the falling on the ice. If we ever leave the Pacific region, I will never (read my lips) never live where there's ICE.

Rest up and mend well, dear.

    Happy weekend,
    Kelley~

    Happy wrapping!

  7. Oh, sorry to hear you and Mr. C have both slid on the ice. Ugh. How many days til summer??!! My shopping is a bit more than half done and we got ten inches of snow last night... Breathe in. Breathe out. I am not stressing! And yes, I also am trying to scale down...well, sort of.

  9. I have fallen myself several times on ice and finally gave up and bought some traction cleats. Years ago the department stores carried items made in Europe when they switched to lower quality production I stopped buying. Well try not to stress, enjoy the holiday.

  10. I hope you feel better after your fall. We have serious ice here, too and I dread driving and walking on it. I am so behind on my Christmas preparations...I haven't even started wrapping yet!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

  11. Hi Sherry,
Almost all of my wrapping us done but not the Christmas cards and I only have one more gift to get.
Because we both retired this year, I'm hoping we'll get to bake some cookies next week. Haven't done that in years! Ice is treacherous! I have heard of so many injuries already this year. Take good care of yourself and the Mister and have a very Merry Christmas!

  14. Goodness, so sorry to hear of your falls. I remember it well, when I lived in Minnesota at least once a year I fell...Glad you had no breaks! I think we all got a little behind this year with the short holiday season and yes, I am cutting down on gift giving this year too!

  15. I'm just waiting on a few more gifts to arrive and once I wrap those, I'll be done. Those odd shaped ones are interesting to try to wrap without ripping through the paper. : ) One rip and that's it, I use a gift bag! We are getting more snow right now and it is supposed to change to rain. I suppose that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on where the temperature is at. I'll hope for the good ~ washing away the snow that is there!

Sorry to hear that both you and your hubby fell on the ice. I hope you are feeling better soon.

  16. Sherry I am so sorry to hear about you and Mr. C taking falls. Please be careful. I know too well how dangerous that ice can be.
Sure looks like you are extremely organized with your wonderful gifts. I did not stress either and started early to shop, create and wrap having all done by Thanksgiving. It really helped for a relaxing time. Each year I rush less and I am liking it. More time to focus on what is really important.

Please take care and I hope you feel better soon from your falls. Happy Weekend.
    Hugs, Celestina Marie

  17. Hi Sherry!
I have almost finished my shopping. I usually do all of it online, and 1 time I go out with the Mr.and enjoy looking at the busy shoppers and decorations. But I don't think I'm going out this year. We too had an ice storm, then a snow storm, then an ice storm. And you know I can't go out in that! I am a bit disappointed.
I am trying to finish my addressing my cards so they go out in tomorrows mail!
I will post my tree today (i hope) It is VERY festive! I can't wait to show it off!
Please be careful! Although your story made me gasp with worry, it was a funny story!
Glad you and the Mr. are recovering nicely!
    xxD
