No Waste Cardboard...

Do you save cardboard?  I do and usually I just pile it up with other pieces and leave them for future use.  Well that leads me to save and hoard and keep too much stuff.  This time I took my little cardboard pieces I got from a nice box of crackers or something and I went straight to my cutting table.  First I determine the largest size that I can get.  This lot allowed me to end up with three pieces of 4" x 6" which is just right for postcards.  I also got  three pieces 2.5" x 3.5" which is perfect for ATCs.  The last three pieces I got would normally be thrown away.  This time I had just the right project for the leftover size of 1.5" x 3.5" pieces.

I was packaging some angels onto folder cards and realized my little cardboard pieces are just right for the little angels ready for mailing and gifting.  No Waste!  And the bonus of no added piles in my studio.  If I can keep up with daily "ephemera" that finds its way into my life then I might be able to actually clear some of the many piles that have accumulated from years of stuff I keep.
So far I am enjoying each and every day of this new year.
I am also praying for safety and warmth for all across our nation who are freezing with unbelievable cold temperatures and frigid conditions.
Creative Bliss my friends...

  2. I also keep bits of cardboard etc for future use, lol. Stacks of it, and it does come in handy for packaging. Unlike yours though, my stuff is just piled up :-). Keep it up! x

  4. What fabulous use of your cardboard!! I hoard mine, too and I have a huge pile that I need to do something with!! It's around -3 here right now with wind chills in the negative 20's. Bone-chilling. I'm looking so forward to spring!! Have a great day :)

  5. Oh Sherry I save (hoard) way too many things. Our creative minds see more than cardboard, or bottle caps or corks, etc. We turn junk into something creative and beautiful.

  6. I too like to have a nice stash of cardboard. What a great idea to cut a bunch up to have them ready for postcard making and atcs.

  7. I can save a whole lot faster than I can craft, so I've got to be careful about saving too much more than I can use and loosing craft space in the process. Also, when I have too much, I don't know what all I do have and then it just gets buried or shuffled. I'm most recently trying to be very concious of this saving process.

  8. I love making those Angels. They are fun, easy and pretty. I don't usually keep cardboard and then when I need it I don't have it. I need to start saving mine. Crafty hugs, ana

  9. I think it's a common crafter's plight---saving for use down the road. I've promised myself not to gather any more supplies until I've used the ones I have............that should be a while! Good solution, and the angels look very good.

  10. Saving cardboard is a bit of a habit for me, too. You did well to cut it into useful sizes, and the angels are perfect!

  13. Well, Sherry, I'm glad I'm not the only one that saves cardboard! : ) I also save pieces and use them for a variety of things. They even know at work that I save it and will keep pieces on the side that come with literature packages for me to bring home. I will use them for crafting, for packaging up certain Etsy orders and just for some place for the hot glue gun to drip onto.

  14. One word Adorable. Love the idea of using your Christmas cards to create an album. A junk journal I would call it. Very neat idea. Ana

  15. Great use of some scrap card Sherry, they look great.
I'm afraid I too am guilty of hoarding old packaging, but towards the end of last year decided to get rid of a large portion of it - I've still kept some though ;) xx
